ABOUT THE PLAY

Our darlin' wild rover, Charlie Lafferty, is being waked in grand style in his home away from home, Rory’s pub, Ballyslattery, Ireland. Friends and neighbours are all invited to join in as we celebrate the life and times of ramblin', gamblin' Lafferty, through jokes, jigs, games, stories and songs.

So join the widow Kathleen, the daughter Maggie, and son-in-law Patrick, along with the parish priest, Father Pettigrew and local pub owner Rory to raise your glass to celebrate our dear departed Lafferty. Slainte

DIRECTED BY   Loretta Julien

Loretta is tapping into her Irish roots and is thrilled to be able to be a part of bringing Lafferty's Wake to the good folks of the Park Players audience. Her own childhood was filled with songs, stories and jokes from Ireland and working with this enthusiastic cast to share that feeling with you has been such a joy.

Bob Bastien as Fr. TERRENCE PETTIGREW
You may recognize Bob from his multiple roles in past Park Players productions of It's a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol. He has been involved with amateur theatre since 1966, appearing in a high school presentation of 12 Angry Men. He has since performed in works by authors such as Agatha Christie, Edward Albee, George Bernard Shaw, and Aristophanes.
David Gobby as RORY FINN
This will be David's 14th play either as actor, director, writer or some mix of those skills. As Rory Finn, the owner of Rory's Pub in Lafferty's Wake, David's tasks are somewhat different. Rory drinks, pours drinks, serves drinks, tells jokes involving some significant amount of alcohol consumption. And picks people off the floor who have over-consumed drinks. Rory's best friend is a priest. Let us pray.
Mike Kalinowski as PATRICK CLANCY
Returning to the stage after a short break, Mike is looking forward to performing again. Proud of showcasing his comedic timing and wit in his last few appearances, he hopes to successfully add emergency alcoholic (medicinal) beverage delivery facilitator and (he’ll let you be the judge) pub sing-along amateur to his skillset!
Sarah Di Milo as KATHLEEN LAFFERTY (NÉE O'DONNELL)
A member of Park Players for 16 years, Sarah has enjoyed being a part of many productions such as Out of Sight... Out of Murder, Maggie’s Getting Married and A Christmas Carol. While using an Irish accent might be a little out of her comfort zone, she is thrilled to bring Kathleen, the fiery, sharp-tongued widow of the dearly (debatably) beloved Lafferty to life. Sarah continues to have a blast on stage with an amazing cast delivering a performance that proves mourning can be messy, moving, and just a little bit tipsy.
Sláinte!
Ollie Giulione as MARGARET 'MAGGIE' CLANCY (NÉE LAFFERTY)
Ollie Giulione is an actor, filmmaker, writer, and student who currently studies film at Concordia University. Acting in community theatre musical productions since childhood, Ollie has played roles ranging from Ethel Tofflemeier in The Music Man to Lumière from Beauty and the Beast. This is Ollie’s first performance with the Greenfield Park Players and it won’t be the last!
Nicole Thompson as MOLLY GREANEY
Nicole Thompson has been a member of Park Players since 2011, as a cast member of It’s a Wonderful Life as well as having cast and directed John Wooten’s play, The Role of Della. It’s been a while since her last production and she is thrilled to be back.
Eli Rodriguez as UPS DELIVERY

Since 1961, Park Players has entertained the residents of Greenfield Park and surrounding areas. Founded by a small group of enthusiastic Greenfield Park residents in 1960, but adopting our official name in 1961, Park Players not only stages productions in the spring and fall of each year but are involved in the community year-round.

Over our time as an organization, our members have been involved in many local projects. These include lunch hour workshops for elementary school children, one act plays and activities for the “Golden Leaves”, a social centre for the elderly, and children’s plays for church potluck dinners. We are also proud to have aided in raising over $8 000 for our community organizations thanks to our concession sales over the years.
